On Going Programs

  1. Every year since 2004, EAFI has Summer camps to teach civics and English in Benxi, Jishou, Baojing, Beijing and Yunnan;
  2. In 2005, EAFI launched a new Winter camp in conjunction with the Center for Civic Education and Asia-Pacific Education Program.
  3. Since 2002, EAFI has set up an Eye Care program to bring eye care to poor rural children in China;
  4. Since 2003, EAFI has launched some small efforts to help Baojing to build institutions like small micro-loan women entrepreneur initiatives and Environmental Tourism and Local Development Project in Baojing;
  5. West Hunan Program is a program to recruit foreigh teachers to go to teach in West Hunan for short terms or long term teaching or community service;
  6. Since 2003, EAFI and Jishou Teachers College started a ten year cooperation contract of the Leadership Program to train 20,000 K-12 teachers in the region.
  7. Education Advancement Fund International (EAFI) is launching a new project to Stop Sex Selection Abortion (SSSA project) in China.
  8. 8 Starting in May 2005, college graduates from underserved communities in China and business or economics students from the US and other English speaking countries will partricipate in an internship program in Shanghai.
  9. EAFI has set up a program for Chinese children who have been adopted by Americans to have a Chinese cousin. All the cousin programs will be initiated in Qiao Tou School.
  10. EAFI has helped to set up a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) named Xiangxi Human Resource Market Information Center in Jishou to help minority people in the area to find employment opportunities and information about government regulations and laws.
